In recent weeks, I have met with residents, Wiltshire Council and Wiltshire Police to discuss the ongoing anti-social behaviour that has been taking place along Station Road and particularly in Station Road car park. This behaviour has caused a large amount of distress to those living close to the car park and I am pleased that some progress has now been made.
Yesterday, Wiltshire Council obtained a Closure Order for the Station Road car park. This will help to curb the anti-social behaviour that has been taking place and give local residents some respite over the coming months.
This order will last for 3 months and means that the car park will be closed between 6pm and 6am. Between these times, the car park will be monitored by the Police who will also be noting, and taking action against, anyone breaching this order.
While a long-term solution is being sought, this order will help to stop any anti-social behaviour from occurring during the remainder of the summer and into autumn. In November, Wiltshire Council will be able to apply for an extension of this order if necessary.
