Yesterday I was delighted to meet Carmela Chillery-Watson, her mum Lucy and Tinker the dog. It was an honour to hand Carmela her certificate for the Points of Light Award from the Prime Minister through the laptop screen.
Carmela is six years old and has a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. She has been fundraising for ‘Muscular Dystrophy UK’ for the last three years, raising over £40,000. Most recently she has started a ‘150 One a Day Challenge’, posting a physical therapy exercise online everyday until June. More details of her recent work are on her Twitter page here https://twitter.com/ChilleryWatson. Find her JustGiving page here.
Carmela is an inspiration to me and to thousands of people all over the country. Her daily fitness tips are brilliant and a sign of her great strength and huge spirit. She is a true point of light in these dark times and I’m so grateful to her for the encouragement she gives to so many people.
