This year has seen many people needing to work and study from home and, as we have adjusted to communicating virtually all day, the internet has never been more important. For some, lockdown has highlighted problems with broadband or internet speeds, but I know for many constituents (especially those living in our villages) this was an existing problem. I completely appreciate the need for reliable, high-speed internet, and how frustrating it is when this is not available.
Across Wiltshire a lot of work has already been done, and is continuing, to improve broadband connectivity, but I’d like to gain a clear picture of where issues are still arising and try to work for a resolution with Government, Wiltshire Council and internet providers. Therefore I propose a ‘broadband summit’ in early autumn. It would be excellent to have all parishes suffering slow broadband speeds represented (by one spokesperson - to avoid a meeting of hundreds of people) to try and tackle this problem. If there is general demand for such a meeting I will ensure we have the right professional representatives there too.
If you would like your town or parish to be represented please email me on danny.kruger.mp@parliament.uk. If you have recently emailed me about your broadband speeds, we will respond as soon as possible.
