We urgently need to make life better for young people so they want to live, work and bring up their own families here. This means making sure that they have all the resources they need to grow and flourish in this wonderful Constituency.
Many are calling for government to give supermarket vouchers for half term and holidays to all families with children who get Free School Meals in term time. I don’t agree: we need a more bespoke, more community-led, and where needed, more generous approach than vouchers.
I have received some emails criticising my vote against Labour’s motion yesterday - “That this House calls on the Government to continue directly funding provision of free school meals over the school holidays until Easter 2021 to prevent over a million children going hungry during this crisis."
Wiltshire Music Connect supports music education for children and young people in Wiltshire. Last academic year 92% of Wiltshire schools engaged with one or more of Wiltshire Music's Connect interventions, enabling them to reach over 15,000 children & young people.
The Government is quite rightly trying to get children back to school as soon as possible. All children need an education, vulnerable children need the safety of school, and the economy needs the childcare that schools provide.
