Crime is the great scourge of a civilised society. The cost of crime is not just the damage done by criminals but the huge expense and effort we have to put into protecting ourselves from it.
I visited the village of Allington near Devizes this week to see the impact of the recent flooding. Councillor Paul Oatway and I met residents Neil and Sion Allen, whose house has been flooded four times in the past few months, along with their neighbour Lavinia Postlethwaite.
